A related media outlet has previously revealed camouflaged photos of the new Tank 300 SUV, which was launched by Great Wall Motor Company and is one of the earliest releases in the Tank range, debuting in 2020 under the Wey brand. The facelift focuses on the interior and is expected to apply to both fuel and hybrid versions.
The new model comes with two 12.3-inch LCD instrument displays integrated into the dashboard and an entertainment and information screen that looks like a big screen overall. The new version of the in-car infotainment system features a larger, taller screen that is more in line with the rest of the Tank range.
From the photos that have popped up, it appears that the new model's gearshift lever is no longer located in the centre console, but has been shifted to the steering wheel. The design of the steering wheel has also changed to a flat, two-spoke style, with controls simplified to just two scroll wheels, compared to the old model's three switches on either side of the wheel. Apart from these changes, the overall layout of the interior remains highly consistent with the previous version, including the design of the vents and doors.
However, shortly after the news broke, Great Wall Motor's staff released a media release explaining that ‘the photos that have been leaked are not of the new Tank 300 in action, but rather a temporary test vehicle pieced together from parts, and the final interior design will be subjected to after the listing.’
The spy shots show camouflage around the front and rear doors, but it is unclear whether these areas have undergone any actual changes. The engine options are expected to remain the same, which includes a 2-liter engine producing 167 kW and 387 Nm of torque. There is also a variant equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 engine producing 265 kW and 500 Nm of torque. This version uses a 48-volt mild hybrid system and a 9-speed automatic transmission instead of the 8-speed automatic found in the 2.0-liter engine models.
The Tank 300 Hi4-T model is also expected to arrive soon. This hybrid version is based on a 2-liter engine producing 185 kW and 385 Nm of torque. Additionally, it features a front-mounted electric motor with 120 kW, providing 400 Nm of torque. The total system output is 300 kW with 750 Nm of torque, utilizing a 37.1 kWh lithium battery with an all-electric range of 105 kilometers.
