The Haval Raptor is the latest crossover SUV unveiled by Great Wall Motors, with specifications and images revealed by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. The vehicle boasts a distinctive exterior design aimed at differentiating it from the upcoming Haval H9. Additionally, the Haval Raptor has received an update with a range of internal combustion engine options, as it was previously available only as a plug-in hybrid.
The Haval Raptor first entered the Chinese market in October 2023, functioning as a hybrid SUV based on a proprietary platform from Great Wall Motors. After its launch, Raptor sold about 6000 units over three consecutive months, but sales then dropped to approximately 2000 units monthly. To enhance sales, Great Wall Motors is keen on launching the model with an updated exterior design and a range of ICE options.
The new Haval Raptor adopts the company’s new design language, replacing the round headlights with smaller rectangular ones, and features a black grille with vertical chrome bars. The new model also has more plastic trim at its lower section, along with wide wheel arches and large bumpers. At the rear, the Haval Raptor showcases a distinctive tailgate with a spare wheel mounted on it.
The exterior design of the Haval Raptor may have changed to stand apart from the recently released Haval H9 off-road model, although they appear quite similar in terms of exterior design. However, the modified Raptor model now looks more distinctive.
The dimensions of the Haval Raptor are 4680/1950/1822 mm, with a wheelbase of 2738 mm, and a total length of 4800 mm including the spare wheel. The approach and departure angles are 25 and 32 degrees, respectively, and it can feature three wheel size options including 18 and 19 inches.
Inside, the Haval Raptor accommodates five seats (2+3). Its curb weight is 1830 kg, and its gross weight is 2255 kg. The current edition of the Haval Raptor in China is available as a hybrid vehicle. Its powertrain relies on a 1.5-liter turbocharged ICE engine producing 165 horsepower combined with two electric motors yielding a total power output of 295 horsepower. The company is also working on a version powered solely by internal combustion engines.
The gasoline version of the Haval Raptor is based on a 2-liter turbocharged GW4N20A engine with a maximum output of 235 horsepower.
