McLaren has announced that its new flagship supercar will be called the 'W1'. It is regarded as the successor to the McLaren P1 and will be officially launched on 6 October 2024 at 1pm UK time (14:00 Saudi time on the same day). In addition, the W1 will be limited to 399 units, said by a sports car collector.
The new flagship supercar will feature McLaren's latest design language and a new V8 hybrid system. Launched in 2013, the McLaren P1 is powered by a 3.8-litre V8 twin-turbo engine combined with an electric motor that delivers a combined output of 916 hp and 900 Nm of peak torque.
The McLaren P1 was officially launched in 2012, 12 years ago, when it was called the "Top Three " of flagship sports cars, along with the Porsche 918 Spyder and the Ferrari LaFerrari. With its hybrid powertrain and powerful aerodynamic design, the P1 became a supercar that ushered in a new era. Even today, the McLaren P1 is one of the fastest cars in the world.
