Peter Rawlinson, the CEO of Lucid, believes that efficiency is a crucial benchmark for evaluating electric vehicle technology among automakers. He claims that Tesla and its Model S will not match the efficiency of Lucid's new Air Pure, which is touted as "the most energy-efficient car ever," until 2032.
Thanks to an advanced 84 kWh battery, the Lucid Air Pure can travel up to 676 km on a single charge. This translates to 8 km of range per kilowatt-hour, easily surpassing the previous efficiency of the Tesla Model S, which requires 6.4 km per kilowatt-hour.

Last week, Rawlinson took to LinkedIn to share a chart illustrating Lucid's advancement over its competitors. The chart indicates that if Tesla continues to improve the efficiency of its Model S linearly, it will take until 2032 to match Lucid Air Pure's rating.
Of course, Lucid will continue to develop the Air, and the chart suggests that by 2032, the efficiency of the Air could improve further. Other competitors, including the Porsche Taycan and Mercedes-Benz EQS, lag significantly behind in these figures.
Rawlinson stated in his post, "Efficiency is critically important in making a better, lighter, more spacious, and longer-range vehicle, and it directly impacts manufacturing costs. Therefore, it can be said that efficiency is the most accurate metric for assessing the capabilities of electric vehicle manufacturers."
