Li Auto has launched its latest electric MPV, the Mega, in China, and the name certainly lives up to its size. The automaker claims that the Mega is among the largest electric vehicles produced in volume globally. However, it is still not as large as the Cadillac Escalade IQ or the GMC Hummer EV electric pickup, and there are several larger electric vehicles available on the market.
Nonetheless, the Mega is still a sizable vehicle. Despite its large dimensions, it is surprisingly lightweight, weighing 2.6 times more than lightweight sports cars like the Mazda MX-5 Miata.
The exterior design is quirky, resembling a blend of several modern electric vehicles. The front end mimics some lines from the Tesla Cybertruck, while the design bears traces from Lucid Gravity and Hyundai Staria.
It cannot be described as a beautiful car, but it is appealing and definitely more attractive than many standard MPVs for sale in certain countries. The large glass area provides ample interior space for seven passengers to ride comfortably.
The interior is available in white or brown Nappa leather upholstery and is equipped with all the necessary luxury features. The interior layout features a 2-2-3 seating arrangement with individual captain's chairs for the middle row. Rear passengers benefit from wireless charging and improved visibility of the rear entertainment system. Notably, all three rows of seats come with electric adjustments, cooling, and heating features.
Additionally, the driver and front passenger enjoy heated and ventilated seats, while even second-row passengers get heated leg rests and seat heating. The cabin can be customized according to needs, with the second and third-row seats being foldable, and a mattress can be installed in the back.
In terms of performance, the Mega boasts a power output of 536 horsepower. As a result, this massive family minivan can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds, significantly faster than the fully electric Volvo EM90. At 102.7 kWh, the battery is smaller than its Swedish rival but still offers a similar range of 710 km under the Chinese CLTC cycle. The starting price of the vehicle is $77,400.
