The Koenigsegg Jesko is considered a very special car. The company has used the vehicle to set a new world record. While this may seem like a questionable move, the Jesko Absolut is now the fastest car in the world, accelerating from 0-400-0 km/h. The record attempt took place at an airport in Sweden on June 27, and the Absolut accomplished this feat in 27.83 seconds. This is nearly a full second faster than the previous record of 28.81 seconds, set by the Koenigsegg Regera in 2023.
The record was set by Koenigsegg test driver Marcus Lund, who was one of four records broken that day. Among the other records were 0-400 km/h in 18.82 seconds, 0-402 km/h in 19.20 seconds, and 0-402-0 km/h in 28.27 seconds.
Koenigsegg stated that initial trials were conducted on June 26, but “the temperatures were above the optimal level.” As a result, they waited until 5 a.m. on June 27 to break the records with the Jesko Absolut. The car was in the same standard condition it is sold with, using E85 fuel and standard Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tires. The company went on to say that the only modifications were the addition of a safety cage and a different driver’s seat.
The automaker indicated that the car is specifically designed for straight-line acceleration, as its front area is designed to be smaller. In addition to its aerodynamic design, the car features a 5.0-liter V8 engine with twin turbochargers producing up to 1600 horsepower on E85 fuel.
Christian von Koenigsegg commented: “This record proves the performance accuracy of the Jesko Absolut, giving us great confidence in its ability to be the fastest legal production car in the world.” It is noteworthy that on June 15 in Greece, a Jesko caught fire while its owner was participating in a major nationwide driving event, leading to a driving ban on the vehicle from the company.
However, on June 20, the company shared some additional details following an “investigation.” Koenigsegg stated that the fuel tank, as well as the engine oil and transmission oil systems, remained intact but were not the source of the fire. The company then revealed that a defect in the hydraulic system was found, and they discovered a rear hydraulic hose that had experienced an issue, indicating clearly the cause of the fire.
Koenigsegg confirmed the driving ban and stated: “We are now checking the installation of all hydraulic hoses in this area on all produced Jesko cars.” The company also revealed that it is working on updating the program that will detect leaks and immediately shut down the hydraulic system to prevent fire.

Senior Writer The quest for automotive knowledge began as soon as the earliest memories. Various sources information, even questionable ones, have been explored including video games, television, magazines, or even internet forums. Still stuck in that rabbit hole.
