Iveco has introduced the all-electric light commercial vehicle eMoovy, a new model developed in collaboration with Hyundai, primarily targeting the European market. The eMoovy is essentially a redesigned version of the Hyundai Staria, featuring emissions-free van and cab styles.
Iveco claims that the eMoovy is the first electric vehicle in the LCV segment, with a weight range between 2.5 and 3.5 tons. The transmission has been borrowed directly from the largest electric SUV in the Hyundai group, likely referring to the upcoming Kia EV9 or Hyundai Ioniq 9.
The vehicle will feature a single electric motor providing 215 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 63 kWh or a 76 kWh battery pack, with the larger option offering a WLTP range of 320 km. The vehicle platform supports 800-volt ultra-fast charging and V2L functionality, adding 100 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes when connected to a 350 kW charger.
Hyundai has yet to offer an electric version of the Staria, which currently comes with internal combustion engines and hybrid powertrains. However, it is likely that the multipurpose vehicle will adopt the electric powertrain from the Iveco eMoovy in the near future, further expanding Hyundai's lineup and aligning with its push towards electric mobility.
Externally, the model is identical to the Hyundai ST1, which is the cab version of the Staria, with the only exception being the front grille adorned with Iveco lettering. The rear is adjustable, offering a wide range of body styles, including the small truck.
According to the addition, the maximum loading capacity is 10 cubic meters, while the payload is 1.5 tons. Iveco states that the overall low profile of the light commercial vehicle is ideal for logistics and delivery operations, with a low ground clearance that increases cargo container capacity and enhances operator maneuverability.
The interior design and fittings have been taken from the twin vehicle Staria from Hyundai, including a digital cockpit, eco-leather seating with heating and ventilation, and a range of advanced driver assistance systems.
The Iveco eMoovy made its debut at the IAA Transportation exhibition in Hanover. Alongside this new all-electric light commercial vehicle, Hyundai and Iveco are also working on “electric heavy truck solutions for European markets.” This is based on a partnership that began in 2022, with both companies focusing on promoting carbon-free mobility.
