Toyota has announced a new addition to the Corolla lineup for 2025, called Corolla FX, which brings to mind the classic designs of the late 1980s. The 2025 Toyota Corolla FX features a larger infotainment system, 18-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, and a sporty body, along with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine.
This special edition is inspired by the 1987 Toyota Corolla FX16. However, unlike the past rear-wheel-drive hot hatch, the modern FX model is based on the all-wheel-drive Corolla sedan, adding a hint of sportiness to the vehicle.
In terms of appearance, the FX features a new set of 18-inch satin black alloy wheels, along with a new rear wing mounted on the tailgate. The special edition is available in only three colors: Midnight Metallic Black, Ice Cap, and Underground. These colors are always combined with a black roof, mirrors, and badging. Finally, the FX comes with a more aggressive design, seen in the SE and Nightshade trims of the Corolla.
Inside, the standout feature is the new 10.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the dashboard, replacing the previous 8-inch unit. The larger screen is standard for the FX and will also be available on other 2025 Corolla models. The model also features a 7-inch digital gauge cluster and a wireless charging pad sourced from the XSE trim, along with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 ADAS package.
Despite its sporty appearance, the 2025 Toyota Corolla FX comes equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. There are no performance updates compared to the lower trims, as the engine still produces 169 horsepower and 205 Nm of torque, paired exclusively with a CVT transmission. However, Toyota has modified the chassis setup by lowering the springs and adjusting the electric steering system.
The first copies of the edition will arrive in the fall of 2024. Prices will be announced as the launch date approaches, along with the rest of the 2025 Corolla lineup.
