The updated Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric vehicle is expected to undergo a complete overhaul in 2026, particularly with a split headlight design. The latest spy photos reveal the new car’s hood and an improved bumper, which have resulted in the repositioning of the daytime running lights and headlights to the lower section. Hyundai’s R&D team is currently working on the updated version of the Ioniq 6.
Spy photos of the electric sedan have been discovered while being tested in Europe. Despite being covered in black camouflage panels, it is evident that it will see more significant changes compared to the earlier Ioniq 5.
The most striking changes will relate to the front design, specifically the shape of the hood and the arrangement of the lighting setup. The current model features traditional one-piece headlight units, while the enhanced version appears to have a square-shaped hood with distinct points at each corner.
The new hood design leaves little room for slim headlight units. Looking at the openings in the camouflage, it is clear that the headlights have been moved down to the bumper. Judging by the relative sizes of the openings on each side, the daytime running lights seem to be positioned directly below the hood line, with the main headlight units hidden beneath.
It is difficult to ascertain what has changed at the rear, but it can be confirmed that the LED tail lights will receive some design tweaks. The interior design should also benefit from some minor changes.
It is also expected that when the updated car is revealed in 2025, the range will increase by upgrading from a 77.4 kWh battery to an 84 kWh unit. This change has already been made in the Ioniq 5. The powertrain configurations are likely to remain the same, including a single motor with 225 horsepower and a dual motor setup with 320 horsepower. However, for the first time, the Ioniq 6 N will join with a dual motor setup producing 641 horsepower and a transmission from the Ioniq 5 N.
