Lucid Motors has announced that its first electric SUV, the Gravity, has successfully rolled off the production line at its facility in Casa Grande, Arizona. This marks the beginning of a new chapter for Lucid in the electric vehicle market, with Gravity being the second addition to its electric vehicle lineup.

CEO Peter Rawlinson released a video showcasing the first Gravity electric SUV coming off the production line. He stated, "Not all electric cars are created equal," as Gravity approaches delivery to its first buyers.

Gravity was officially unveiled last November, with the company stating that the vehicle heralds a new era for electric SUVs with a range exceeding 440 miles. The vehicle features a luxurious interior design with space for seven adults and their luggage.

Rawlinson remarked, "The Gravity SUV represents a significant leap forward in Lucid's world-leading technology and design." Despite its long-range capabilities, Gravity's battery is slightly smaller than some of its competitors'. The vehicle employs Lucid's next-generation technology, which is a substantial improvement over that found in the existing Air sedan models. Lucid confirmed last month that the Air Pure is the most efficient car in the world, consuming one kilowatt-hour per 5 miles.

The Lucid Air starts at $69,900, down from around $100,000 when it launched in 2021. The Gravity will join the Air models as the second electric vehicle in the brand's lineup. The electric vehicle manufacturer plans to begin producing customer models later this year ahead of deliveries. The starting price is expected to be below $80,000 to compete with Rivian's R1S and Tesla's Model X.
