Bugatti has officially unveiled the last model of the Chiron supercar, eight years after its initial appearance at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. This model is named L'Ultime, which is essentially a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport designed with bespoke touches through the Sur Mesure customization program. It marks the grand conclusion of the limited production run of Chiron, limited to 500 units.
The L'Ultime features a unique blend of the original Atlantic blue and French Racing blue, providing a distinctive gradient design. The front and rear wheels are also painted individually to complement the car's body colors. Furthermore, the custom-designed Bugatti logo on the horsehoe-shaped grille is embellished in blue, adding a touch of elegance.
The car is adorned with hand-written names of significant locations that played pivotal roles in the development and lifecycle of the Chiron, including Geneva, Chantilly, Paul Ricard Circuit, Éra-Lésian track, Château Saint Jean, Cape Canaveral, and of course, Bugatti's headquarters in Molsheim. While the result looks stunning, some may find it less exclusive compared to similar designs applied to the one-off Chiron Super Sport Golden Era.
The hand-written logo 500 indicates the production number of L'Ultime, appearing on the side sills, wheels, under the rear wing, and on the cover of the W16 engine. In addition, the colors of the French flag are shown on the mirror caps. The interior combines dark blue leather upholstery with matte blue carbon fiber accents and French Racing blue details.
Special touches include the L'Ultime and #500 logos in various places, along with hand-cut, hand-stitched, and hand-woven leather accents on the door panels. As expected, there are no changes to the 8.0-liter W16 engine, which produces the same 1,578 horsepower.
The Chiron made history as the first production car to exceed 482.8 km/h or 300 mph, achieving an unofficial top speed record of 304.773 mph or 490.484 km/h in 2019. However, Bugatti has since announced it will no longer pursue speed records, indicating that future models may not necessarily aim to surpass this achievement.
In addition to the standard Chiron, various versions of the supercar have been introduced over the years, including Sport, Pur Sport, Super Sport, and Super Sport 300+.
