Previously, Bentley planned to make a full shift to all-electric vehicles by 2030, but CEO Frank Steffen Walliser revealed that Bentley will delay that transition, expecting to go all-electric by the mid-2030s.
During the transition, Bentley will focus on plug-in hybrids and push the boundaries of sustainable fuel technology. But Bentley's first all-electric model is still scheduled to debut in 2026, which will be a completely redesigned model.
Walliser explains that in the premium car market, consumers still prefer internal combustion engines, and Bentley won't launch both internal combustion and all-electric versions of the same model because it would lead to internal competition. As a result, plug-in hybrids are the best option for now.
Previously, Bentley has launched the Continental GT Speed and Flying Spur, both models are equipped with Bentley's latest V8 high-performance plug-in hybrid system, and consisting of a 4.0T twin-turbocharged V8 engine and electric motor composed of the engine's maximum power of 600 hp, the electric motor's maximum power of 190 hp, the system's integrated. The maximum power of the system is 782 hp, peak torque of 1000 Nm, matched with an 8-speed dual clutch transmission.
