The all-new 2025 BMW M5 Touring is regarded as the ideal choice for those looking for a practical car that is both fast and family-friendly. This will be the first time the model is officially sold in the US market, where traditional M5 models were previously sold. This 2025 model is the third wagon in the history of the M series and the first since the E60 model was launched in 2007.
The new Touring version is heavier than the 2025 traditional M5 models, with an expected weight of 2508 kg, which is an increase of 63 kg over the regular sedan version. The M5 features a nearly 50:50 weight distribution due to its long wheelbase, wide body, and low center of gravity, making it more balanced compared to the sedan and coupe models.
The Touring version carries over the engines from the sedan version, with no changes to power, transmission, wheel size, or suspension. The car is all-wheel drive and produces 717 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque from a 4.4-liter V8 turbocharged engine. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, compared to 3.4 seconds for the sedan version. The car can reach 200 km/h in 11.1 seconds, with a top speed of 248 km/h, or 304 km/h with the optional M Driver package.
The vehicle features a bold design with pronounced rear wheel arches, and despite the transition to a wagon, the rear door design appears unchanged. Vertical reflectors are integrated into the rear bumper, and the rear tailgate has distinctive metal touches above it. There is an elegantly integrated roof spoiler. The standard panoramic Sky Lounge roof and glossy black accents enhance the luxury feel, along with a standard electric rear sunshade. No mention of a carbon roof option, as seen in the sedan.
The electric tailgate opens to reveal 17.7 cubic feet of luggage storage space, while the rear seats can be split in a 40:20:40 ratio. The rest of the interior design remains familiar, featuring unique ambient lighting, a new steering wheel design, BMW 8.5 operating system, and a curved display.
The all-new 2025 BMW M5 Touring made its debut at Pebble Beach this past Thursday. The global market launch is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024, with a starting price of $121,500, representing a $2,000 increase over the base price of the sedan version.
