The Cayenne EV has been seen in the latest spy shots, braving snow-covered test tracks. Originally set for a late 2025 or early 2026 debut, its release may be postponed as Porsche reassesses its electrification plans. While rumors about delays are circulating, Porsche has yet to confirm them.

Exterior Design

Built on the PPE platform, shared with Audi’s A6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron as well as Porsche’s Macan EV, the Cayenne EV is expected to adopt design elements from the Macan EV. This includes its signature headlight and grille styling, giving it a sleek and modern appearance

Powertrain Options

The entry-level Cayenne EV is likely to share its powertrain with the mid- and high-tier Macan EV. This includes dual electric motors delivering 509 hp (516 bhp / 380 kW) in the 4S variant and 630 hp (639 bhp / 470 kW) in the Turbo model. Higher-end Cayenne EV variants might borrow the Taycan Turbo’s powertrain for enhanced performance.

Porsche’s Shifting EV Strategy

Porsche is adapting its EV strategy in response to market trends. Despite global growth in new energy vehicle (NEV) sales, the Taycan and Macan EV have struggled to meet sales expectations.

Last year, Porsche announced plans to extend the lifecycle of some internal combustion engine (ICE) models while developing hybrid and ICE options for certain EV platforms, especially in the SUV category. The current Cayenne with ICE will remain in production for several more years, and the next-generation Cayenne will offer a range of powertrains, including ICE, hybrid, and fully electric options.
