In the automotive world, the Lexus ES is currently shining in its seventh generation, having held its market position since mid-2018. While the all-new model is not yet ready, it seems that a facelift version is brewing. Recently, leaked images regarding the 2026 facelift model have created excitement among fans.
Based on previous teaser images and patent filings, many have anticipated a significant redesign for the Lexus ES 2026, following the footsteps of its sibling model, the Toyota Camry. This could mean moving away from the traditional grille design and introducing fully electric versions. However, Lexus appears to be opting for a more conservative facelift approach, focusing primarily on technological updates inside the cabin. Nevertheless, this doesn’t mean all rumors are false; Lexus may be preparing a separate update for the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the vehicle, while the electric version is likely undergoing more significant changes.
At first glance, the sedan shown in the leaked manual appears quite similar to the current ES model, but a closer inspection reveals several modifications, such as a pair of redesigned headlights featuring Z-shaped LED lighting, now positioned at the top and wrapping around the sides, unlike the lower position in the current model. Additionally, while retaining its distinctive grille shape, the internal pattern has been entirely updated, borrowing design cues from the refreshed RX model.
Elsewhere, the car's structure remains largely familiar. At the rear, not much has changed except for the new lighting design. It is still unclear whether the trim connecting the taillights will evolve into a full-width LED bar. Lexus is also expected to update the model's badge to align with the rest of the lineup.
Inside, the changes are more pronounced, with the most significant update being a much larger touchscreen that dominates the dashboard, appearing almost identical to the 14-inch screen in the latest NX and RX models. The new screen necessitated some modifications to the center console, including redesigned air vents, and unfortunately, the removal of physical buttons for climate control and multimedia functions. It remains uncertain whether Lexus will keep the analog clock currently located next to the 12.3-inch screen in the existing model. There is also a digital instrument cluster, which is likely borrowed directly from the larger LS sedan or possibly the LM minivan. Notably, a gear shifter indicates that this is a version with an ICE or hybrid powertrain rather than one of the electric variants.
Not much is known about the car's mechanical aspects, but the current version is equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 203 horsepower (ES 250), or a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 302 horsepower (ES 350), or a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine (ES 300h) with a total output of 215 horsepower.
