The Honda Passport, as Honda's first off-road SUV, swiftly penetrated the SUV market. Time has passed, and today the vehicle welcomes its fourth-generation model, featuring a more rugged, robust, and boxier exterior design, along with enhanced off-road capabilities.
Exterior Design
Compared to its predecessor, the 2026 Honda Passport has an overall length of 190.6 inches, which is an increase of 1.5 inches, a width of 79.5 inches, and a height of 73.1 inches, gaining 0.9 inches in both dimensions. The front and rear track widths have also been widened by 1.2 inches and 1.5 inches respectively.
Additionally, the new model is equipped with large wheel arches and a prominent engine hood. Both the front and rear of the vehicle feature the eye-catching “PASSPORT” emblem. Standard features include 18-inch wheels, 31-inch tires, and a rooftop luggage rack.
It is worth noting that Honda claims the 2026 Honda Passport is now more robust than ever, with a 72% increase in front lateral stiffness and a 50% improvement in rear torsional stiffness. Its wheelbase has also been extended by 2.9 inches, reaching 113.8 inches.
The front brake discs on the new vehicle have increased from 12.6 inches to 13.8 inches and are equipped with larger calipers.
Interior Comfort
Upon entering the vehicle, one is greeted by a 10.2-inch digital dashboard and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The 2026 Honda Passport also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The entry-level Passport comes standard with leather-trimmed seats, while the others feature synthetic leather materials that are easy to clean.
Honda has indicated that the rear seating area has been expanded by an additional 1.3 inches of legroom, ensuring that passengers do not feel cramped. The trunk space has been increased from 41 cubic feet to 44 cubic feet. When the rear seats are folded down, the available cargo space extends to 84 cubic feet.
Optional Features
The 2026 Honda Passport is available in three trim levels: RTL, Trail Sport, and Trail Sport Elite. All trims come equipped with a power tailgate, wireless charging pad, Wi-Fi hotspot, and an enhanced driver assistance suite. Updates include adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.
Regardless of the trim level chosen, every Passport features a shorter front overhang with an approach angle of 23 degrees, an increase of nearly 2 degrees. The exhaust pipes are also tucked under the rear bumper to better avoid being crushed. The SUV's tow hitch can tow up to 5000 pounds and includes integrated recovery points in case the passport needs to be pulled out of a difficult situation.
Price
The 2026 Honda Passport is expected to arrive at dealerships early next year, with prices starting in the $40,000 range.
