Audi launched the A6 E-Tron in July in standard and sporty S6 E-Tron variants, but still testing is a high-performance RS 6 E-Tron flagship model.
The new RS 6 E-Tron has previously been spotted testing in its Sportback hatchback body style, but our latest shots show the car in its Avant wagon body style for the first time.
The A6 E-Tron is due in U.S. showrooms by the middle of next year, though Audi has only confirmed the hatchback body style for this market. With any luck, the RS 6 E-Tron’s wagon body style will be offered here for enthusiasts, similar to how Audi offers the current gas-powered RS 6 wagon here.
Telltale signs we're looking at an RS 6 E-Tron include widened fenders, a large rear diffuser, a lowered suspension, and a large brake package with what could be carbon-ceramic rotors—all features typical of an RS model. The front fascia also looks similar to the design introduced on the updated 2025 E-Tron GT.
The A6 E-Tron is based on Volkswagen Group's PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, and the RS 6 E-Tron should share the standard car's 800-volt system and 100-kwh battery. Considering the A6 E-Tron already delivers up to 496 hp (extendable to 543 hp briefly) in S6 E-Tron guise, the RS 6 E-Tron should deliver well over 700 hp.
Sophisticated suspension and electronic chassis systems should also be featured to help deliver handling that belies a likely curb weight approaching 5,500 pounds.
What about the gas-powered RS 6? The 2025 RS 6 Avant GT unveiled in February is thought to serve as a sendoff. However, Audi is working on a new generation of the A7, which this time will have both hatchback and wagon body styles, and both of these should have their own RS 7 versions.
