Overview

The 2025 Tank 300 is set to launch in China soon. While it retains the rugged design of the current model, it brings notable upgrades to the interior. A key highlight of the new model is the inclusion of a 9-speed automatic transmission (9AT) across all variants.

Exterior

The 2025 Tank 300 introduces a new beige paint option for the Chinese market while maintaining its classic, hardcore off-road styling. The lineup includes gasoline, diesel, and Hi4-T plug-in hybrid versions.

For the fuel-powered version, key off-road specifications include:

  • Approach angle: 33°

  • Departure angle: 34°

  • Minimum ground clearance (fully loaded): 224 mm

  • Maximum wading depth: 700 mm

Interior

The current Tank 300 interior has often been criticized for its utilitarian feel, with materials that lack refinement compared to urban SUVs.

The 2025 model significantly improves on this with a more premium and modern cabin. White leather is now available for the seats, armrests, and door panels, giving the interior a more upscale feel. The minimalist design is further enhanced by a new steering wheel with simplified buttons and a redesigned gear selector.

The most noticeable change is the updated center console:

  • The 14.6-inch infotainment screen has been switched from an integrated to a floating design, freeing up space below.

  • Physical buttons replace some touchscreen controls, improving ease of use.

  • A new rotary switch controls driving modes and four-wheel-drive settings.

  • Rear passengers now have access to seat ventilation and heating controls via physical levers.

Another major upgrade is the addition of dual 50W wireless fast-charging pads, making it one of the few fuel-powered vehicles to offer this feature.

While these improvements enhance comfort and usability, the redesigned steering wheel and air vents incorporate elements from urban SUVs, slightly diminishing the Tank 300’s rugged off-road character.

Performance & Powertrain

The 2025 Tank 300 is available with three powertrain options:

  1. Gasoline version

    • 2.0T turbocharged engine

    • 227 hp (167 kW)

    • 387 N·m of torque

2.Diesel version (new for 2025)

  • 2.4T turbocharged engine

  • 186 hp

  • 480 N·m of torque

3.Hi4-T plug-in hybrid version

  • 2.0T PHEV system

  • Combined output: 300 kW

  • Combined torque: 750 N·m

  • Pure electric range: 105 km

  • Fuel consumption: 8.8 L/100 km

All versions are equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission (9AT).

Off-Road Capability

The 2025 Tank 300 remains a true off-roader, featuring:

  • Part-time four-wheel drive with high- and low-speed 4WD modes.

  • 2.64x torque amplification in low-speed 4WD.

  • MTS (Multi-Terrain Select) system with 10 driving modes.

  • Three locking differentials ("triple lock" system) for maximum traction.

  • Crawl mode and Tank Turn for extreme off-road maneuverability.

Reshaping the Off-Road Market?

The Tank 300 has firmly established itself as a game-changer in China’s off-road scene. It has not only transformed the market but also fueled the rise of Chinese-built off-road vehicles. Today, many off-road enthusiasts consider the Tank 300 a top choice when shopping for a rugged 4x4.

With this facelift addressing key shortcomings of the previous model, the 2025 Tank 300 offers a more refined and capable package. If all goes as expected, it won’t be long before this off-roader hits the roads of the Middle East as well.
