Nissan has recently launched the all-new generation of the Kicks small crossover, featuring significant enhancements across the board. The new generation is larger than its predecessor, providing more space for passengers and storage while equipped with a more powerful engine and several new features, the most notable being the availability of all-wheel drive for the first time in the Kicks lineup.
Mechanically, the 2025 Nissan Kicks comes exclusively with a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 139 horsepower and 190 Nm of torque. This represents a significant increase of 17 horsepower and 36 Nm compared to the previous generation's 1.6-liter engine.
The engine is paired with Nissan's latest version of the Xtronic automatic transmission (CVT), which distributes power to either the front wheels or all four wheels. The optional intelligent all-wheel drive system is a key highlight of the new generation. With a “Snow” driving mode and a ground clearance of 8.4 inches (213 mm), it enhances the crossover's capabilities on light off-road conditions.
The 2025 Nissan Kicks showcases a bolder appearance compared to its predecessor, inspired by the Chinese version of the Nissan Pathfinder. The front features sleek horizontal LED headlights seamlessly integrated into a large black area surrounding the grille. While the side profile exhibits more sculpted lines than before, it maintains a sporty design. At the rear, the uniquely shaped LED taillights blend smoothly with the black trims reminiscent of those found on the Alfa Romeo Milano.
This small crossover measures 4366 mm in length, 1801 mm in width, and a height of 1626-1631 mm. Notably, there is a slight difference in the wheelbase, extending to 2657 mm for front-wheel drive models and 2664 mm for all-wheel drive versions. These figures make it 71 mm longer, 41 mm wider, and up to 20 mm taller than the previous generation, resulting in a more commanding road presence and a more spacious interior. It also provides an additional shoulder room of 38-43 mm, 23 mm more rear legroom, and a more practical storage compartment.
The dashboard features a simple design, equipped with a digital cockpit and a flat-bottom steering wheel. Base models come with dual 7-inch displays, while higher trims feature larger 12.3-inch screens. Nissan's decision to use touch-sensitive controls in the climate system may not resonate with all buyers accustomed to traditional buttons. Depending on the trim, up to four USB-C ports and a wireless charging pad can be enjoyed, along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The 2025 Nissan Kicks is available in three trims – S, SV, and SR. Additionally, buyers can opt for two premium packages that include features such as a panoramic sunroof and a Bose sound system with 10 speakers, including those integrated into the front headrests.
All trims come standard with the Nissan Safety Shield 360 ADAS, which includes adaptive cruise control. The top-tier SR model offers the more advanced ProPILOT Assist system. Sales are expected to begin in late summer for both the U.S. and Canada, with pricing announced closer to the launch date. Given these updates, it would not be surprising if the starting price of the 2025 Nissan Kicks exceeds the previous model's starting price of $20,790.
