Mazda has unveiled the updated version of its third-generation BT-50 pickup truck, which boasts significant enhancements in design and luxury. Additionally, the vehicle comes with some new safety features. As the 2025 model, this mid-size truck has undergone design updates that incorporate Mazda's Kodo Soul of Motion design language, bringing it closer in appearance to modern Mazda SUVs.
The exterior refresh is particularly noticeable at the front, where the LED headlights have been redesigned, complemented by a new grille, and a reworked front bumper that Mazda claims improves fuel efficiency. At the rear, the tailgate receives a new design along with upgraded LED taillights. The design now prominently features the largest Mazda logos ever on the front and rear.
Mazda has also introduced three new paint colors to keep the vehicle looking fresh, including: Metallic Earth Red, Pearl White, and Metallic Navy Blue, which brings the total color options to seven. The Metallic Earth Red is exclusive to the BT-50, while the new alloy wheel designs further enhance the exterior updates.
Inside, the BT-50 now features a new 9-inch infotainment system that gives the interior a more modern look, with separate sound adjustment controls—a feature that is increasingly rare but always appreciated. The instrument cluster display has also increased from 4.2 inches to 7.0 inches, now providing data such as tire pressure, steering angles, driving modes, and differential lock status.
Furthermore, Android Auto is now wirelessly activated, a feature that was previously limited to Apple CarPlay. The materials used for the door trims, console cover, and dashboard have been updated, with some variants switching from brown leather to black leather. The top models go even further with black Maztex leather seat trims featuring artificial suede, with the name BT-50 embroidered on the front headrests.
The current BT-50 is based on the Isuzu D-Max platform and was launched in 2020 when safety technology was not as advanced as it is now, leading Mazda to implement this facelift. The vehicle is equipped with adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and the new front cameras double the field of view. The automatic emergency braking system can now detect motorcycles and pedestrians at intersections.
The vehicle is powered by engines similar to the previous models, including a 1.9-liter turbo diesel engine producing 148 horsepower, or a more powerful 3.0-liter version producing 187 horsepower. Both engines are available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, with power directed to either the rear wheels or all four wheels, depending on the model.
