Exciting details about the BYD Han L have recently emerged. This flagship model will be available in both plug-in hybrid (DM-i) and fully electric (EV) versions, integrating BYD’s latest innovations such as the fifth-generation DM hybrid system and a high-performance electric motor. The Han L will take over as BYD’s leading luxury sedan, replacing the current Han.
In this article, we dive into the Han L’s features and provide insights into its expected pricing.
Exterior: A Refined Evolution of the BYD Han
The Han L builds on the sleek design of its predecessor with slim headlights, a dynamic front end, and a streamlined body that enhances aerodynamics. New roof-mounted LIDAR sensors and BYD’s latest intelligent driving system further elevate its technology suite.
The vehicle measures 5,050 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,505 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,970 mm. While maintaining the signature spanning taillight design, the rear adopts a fresh style reminiscent of the Yangwang U7.
Interior: Minimalist and Modern Design
Spy photos reveal a clean and minimalist cabin layout, featuring a rotating central display and a three-spoke steering wheel. The center console combines black lacquer accents and premium leather trims, offering generous storage compartments for a sophisticated yet practical design.
Powertrain: Record-Breaking Performance
The Han L will be available as a plug-in hybrid (DM-i) and a fully electric (EV) model, both pushing the boundaries of performance and efficiency.
Han L DM-i: Powered by the fifth-generation DM hybrid technology, it includes a 1.5T hybrid-specific engine producing 115 kW, paired with an electric motor generating 200 kW. Two pure electric range options are available: 145 km and 170 km. Fuel consumption is expected to be less than 4L/100 km.
Han L EV: Offered in single-motor front-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive variants:
The single-motor version delivers 500 kW of power.
The dual-motor variant combines a 230 kW front motor and a powerful 580 kW rear motor, producing over 1,100 horsepower and enabling a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 2.7 seconds.
The Han L EV will also feature BYD’s upgraded blade battery technology, offering increased energy density, extended range, and faster charging speeds. Reports indicate a pure electric driving range exceeding 1,000 km.
Price: Estimated Between 200,000 and 300,000 RMB
Given its enhanced size, advanced features, and cutting-edge technology, the Han L is expected to be priced between 200,000 and 300,000 RMB (approximately 100,000 to 150,000 AED), making it 20,000 to 30,000 RMB more expensive than the current BYD Han.
