The new Audi Q5 model has officially been released, serving as a crucial part of Audi's lineup that has been popular for over 15 years. To this end, Audi has spared no effort in updating the model, completely overhauling the exterior design and introducing new, more fuel-efficient gasoline and diesel engines.
The new Q5 is based on Audi's (PPC) platform, and in the U.S. market, it will initially be available in standard and SQ5 versions. The base model features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder TFSI engine producing 268 horsepower, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch S-tronic transmission, equipped with the Quattro all-wheel-drive system. The 2025 SQ5 features a 3.0-liter six-cylinder TFSI engine with 362 horsepower, also paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.
In the European market, the Q5 will be launched with three engine versions, all equipped with a mild hybrid system featuring a 1.7 kWh battery and a 24-horsepower electric motor with a torque of 230 Nm. The initial version will have a 2.0-liter TFSI engine producing 201 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque, offering front-wheel drive, although all-wheel drive remains an option. Additionally, Audi will launch the 2025 Q5 in Europe with a 2.0-liter TDI engine that produces 201 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The European SQ5 features the same 3.0-liter six-cylinder TFSI engine as the American version, producing 362 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque.
Thanks to the new platform and updated suspension and steering systems, Audi claims that the 2025 Q5 is noticeably more comfortable than the current model. Standard models come with new selective damping shock absorbers, while air suspension with adaptive damping control is available as an option. The SQ5 models come with a sport suspension setup and a modern interior design.
The interior of the new Q5 features a new design concept, although it is not entirely different from existing Audi models. The dashboard includes an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch MMI infotainment display, with an additional 10.9-inch display available for the passenger side. The steering wheel adopts a simple flat-bottom design. Notably, there are no physical controls or buttons for the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system, all of which are integrated into the display. Interestingly, the infotainment system operates on the Android Automotive system and includes access to applications such as YouTube. There is also an optional heads-up display available.
Audi claims that the new Q5 cabin is more spacious than ever before. The rear seats offer a variety of adjustments, including a reclining feature. Other notable interior features include a wireless phone charger, a cooler, USB-C ports in the front, and two in the rear. The rear ports can charge up to 100 watts, sufficient for a laptop.
The design of the SUV is elegant, thanks to clever design touches, including beautiful curves. The Q5 appears smaller than it actually is, and it's refreshing to see a new vehicle that is not dominated by bold sharp lines. Among the key exterior elements are the second-generation OLED digital taillights that can warn other road users of accidents and breakdowns by displaying warning patterns through customizable taillights. At the front, standard Matrix LED headlights feature eight adjustable light units for daytime running lights.
Although Audi has not announced the prices for the new Q5 in the United States, the standard model will start at €52,300 or $57,800, while the new SQ5 will start at €82,900 or $91,600.
