The 2025 Volkswagen Taos has performed excellently in the U.S. market, selling around 60,000 units last year, making it the fourth best-selling brand in America and the best-selling in Canada and Mexico. This trend is expected to continue as Volkswagen has unveiled a new, more stylish model.
However, the changes go beyond just aesthetic adjustments; the compact crossover features a more luxurious interior and a more powerful engine. The new design for Taos includes a smaller grille surrounded by new LED headlights. The front bumper design is bolder, featuring prominent air intakes. Additionally, a light bar that connects the headlights can also be equipped. While the changes at the rear are minimal, designers have added a full-width lighting strip at the back with the illuminated Volkswagen logo.
New features also include three new color options: Shimmering Green, Pearl Blue, and Monument Gray, along with new 17, 18, and 19-inch wheels.
Inside, Taos benefits from a Jetta-like transformation, equipped with a new dashboard and enhanced trims. The standout feature is the new 8-inch infotainment system, which replaces the standard 6.5-inch screen and adopts a streamlined design. The vehicle also features familiar 8-inch digital gauges. Better materials have been added for improved sound absorption and isolation, along with touch climate controls and new dark blue leather for the SEL trim.
Speaking of features, the 2025 Taos comes standard with a suite of IQ.DRIVE assistance systems. These include adaptive cruise control, front assist, travel assist, and active blind spot monitoring. Buyers will also find emergency assist, rear traffic alert, and lane assist systems.
Powering the vehicle is an updated 1.5-liter TSI four-cylinder engine, featuring new fuel injectors, a larger intercooler, and a new fuel filter. With these changes, output increases from 158 horsepower to 174 horsepower. In addition to being more powerful, the 8-speed automatic transmission is now standard across all trims, replacing the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission used in the 4Motion all-wheel-drive version.
