The 2024 Jeep Gladiator has officially debuted at the Detroit Auto Show as the only small truck offered by Jeep. With a meticulously crafted exterior design, new trim levels, and an array of safety features, Jeep has thoroughly updated the Gladiator for 2024.
The 2024 model will no longer offer the EcoDiesel engine, leaving the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 as the sole option, delivering 285 horsepower. This vehicle is suitable for various activities such as towing trailers or traversing rocky terrains. Although the 4xe hybrid version is still under development, it will not be available for the 2024 model year.
A standard 6-speed manual transmission is available, with buyers having the option of an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Design Updates
Jeep has made subtle changes to the iconic design of the Gladiator, reworking the seven-slot grille with black openings and metallic gray surrounds, while the entire grille has been painted to match the body color. The Willys trims feature glossy black openings in the grille, with matching surrounds for each opening. This grille update not only serves an aesthetic purpose but also enhances engine cooling. Similar updates were applied to the Wrangler earlier this year.
The Gladiator has discarded the old antenna, replaced by a sleek, integrated windshield-mounted antenna that gives the truck a more modern look and prevents it from snagging on tree branches on narrow roads.
New for 2024 are seven new wheel designs, with tire sizes ranging from 32 to 33 inches. A new luxurious soft top is standard, with options for a black or body-colored hardtop. Multiple combinations of roof, door, and windshield components allow customers to create dozens of unique vehicle styles.
There are nine exterior color options available, with Anvil gray being the only new addition for 2024.
New 12.3-Inch Infotainment System
Inside, the Gladiator benefits from a new 12.3-inch touchscreen, the largest and most advanced ever installed in this truck. With the Uconnect 5 system, operation speeds have increased fivefold. The Android-based operating system and over-the-air updates (OTA) make the interface more user-friendly than ever before.
Features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay from last year have been retained. It now offers Bluetooth connectivity for two phones simultaneously, along with remote map updates. The Jeep Adventure Guides are also available, providing 62 off-road trails across the country.
The voice recognition system has been improved, utilizing seven microphones to capture commands within the cabin. The dashboard now features a soft-touch material, giving the interior a more luxurious feel. Standard specifications have been enhanced across all trims, from the base Sport T model to the new Rubicon X model.
New Rubicon X and Mojave X Models
The Rubicon X is one of two new models added to the Gladiator lineup for 2024, the other being the Mojave X. Both models are considered the most capable in their respective categories, equipped with a range of accessories that enhance luxury and off-road capabilities. The Rubicon X version features the latest generation of heavy-duty Dana 44 axles in the front and rear, along with Tru-Lok differential locks.
Additionally, an electronic disconnect system and full-time torque management are provided thanks to the Rock-Trac four-wheel drive system. Standard equipment includes 17-inch wheels and 33-inch all-terrain tires.
For those who prefer handling sand dunes over mountain trails, the Mojave X is equipped with 2.5-inch Fox shocks, and the suspension system is specifically tuned for high-speed desert exploration, allowing owners to confidently jump over sand.
Both versions come with integrated off-road cameras, and the underside is protected by three steel skid plates and steel bumpers at both the front and rear.
Enhanced Safety Features
Jeep also offers three equipment packages: Upcountry, Upcountry+, and Level II from American Expedition Vehicles, aimed at making these vehicles more off-road capable.
In terms of safety, the Gladiator has made significant strides. It now comes standard with side airbags for both the front and rear rows, along with second-row seatbelts. Furthermore, Jeep has implemented structural improvements to the vehicle to provide superior protection in the event of a side collision.
Active safety has also been enhanced, with all trims except the Sport receiving front collision warning and cruise control. Rubicon and Mojave X versions include blind-spot monitoring, path and intersection detection, and rear parking assistance. These features are optional on the Sport S, Willys, Rubicon, and Mojave trims.
Jeep has announced that the new truck is now available for pre-order, with expectations for dealer availability before the end of the year and pricing to be announced soon.
