This is my first car after graduation. I was looking for something affordable with a manual transmission to practice driving. I was originally planning to get the Chery Arrizo 1.5T manual, but it was discontinued by the time I was ready to buy. I looked at a few options and ended up choosing the MG 5, mainly because it came with a manual and had the space I needed.
I sat in another (cheaper) car, but it felt too cramped — I'm 183 cm tall and on the heavier side, so interior space matters to me. The MG 5 felt a bit roomier and more comfortable for the driver.
Exterior design? Honestly, I’m not a big fan — especially the sloped rear. It has a bit of a “sporty” look, which isn’t really my thing. I prefer boxier, more classic designs. But at the end of the day, I’m the one driving — I don’t have to stare at it! I was going to get the grey version, but under the sun, it had a reddish tint, so I went with white instead.
Interior? There are a few drawbacks. I got the base model with fabric seats — which I actually prefer over leather. But the headrest leans forward too much and doesn’t support the neck, so I bought a neck pillow. The glossy surfaces around the center console looked nice at first, but they quickly started showing small scratches. There’s also a trim piece on the passenger side that reflects sunlight strongly while driving.
Features? No key ignition — just push-button start, even on the base model. No sunroof either, which honestly I don’t care about. What annoyed me is that the radio starts playing automatically every time I start the car — I have to mute it manually. The phone connectivity system is also buggy; the built-in map app can’t find places that Google Maps or other apps easily locate.
Interior space? Very good — definitely roomy enough for me.
Driving? I’ve driven over 1,000 km so far, and at least 300–400 km of that was on mountain roads (mostly fishing trips). The road feedback is very direct — and honestly, at this price, I wasn’t expecting more. It does the job.

MG5 2023 looks stylish and affordable (AED 65k). But is it reliable for daily use in UAE heat?

I just bought it two months ago, and it's often showing a "key not detected" message. What's going on? The key has power.

I just bought a manual 1.5 naturally aspirated MG5 a week ago, and it suddenly wouldn't start at the hospital entrance. Has anyone experienced this situation? I found online that there might be signal interference at hospitals, and I'm sure there's no issue with the fuel. Thanks.

What's the RPM for your manual transmission car at 120 km/h? Mine goes straight up to 3400 RPM! [Shocked]

Could the owners of the 25 model 1.5T MG 5 share their experiences? I'm considering getting one soon, and you've had it for a few months now. How do you feel about it?

I wonder if the MG5 can pass the OBD inspection, especially if there are emission fault codes?

When starting with the A/C on in a 1.5 naturally aspirated engine, the noise is loud, like revving the engine in neutral. What's going on?

Question: After a tire has been patched, is it possible for it to lose air slowly and without notice, and then suddenly deflate completely one day?
In July, my right rear tire got a nail and was patched with a mushroom plug. I check the tire pressure every time I park, and it generally stays normal with some fluctuations. I've refilled it once or twice. In October, the right rear tire suddenly lost all air. The mechanic couldn't find a leak using the water spray or submersion methods (I suspected someone let the air out). After refilling, it seemed normal, though I did refill it once more (I thought it was due to the drop in temperature, but it was slightly lower than the other three tires, so I didn't think much of it).
A few days ago, I parked at my work garage (the tire pressure was normal before parking), and when I left work in the afternoon, I saw the right rear tire was flat on the ground. It has been a few days since I refilled it, and it seems normal now. I'm very worried it might suddenly deflate again one day. [Crying]

I've checked out all the cars under 100,000, and honestly, this one looks the best. Plus, I love the 1.5L naturally aspirated engine with a manual transmission. The main thing is it's fuel-efficient and has low maintenance costs.
