Can a car really drive through floodwaters without stalling? Will it need repairs afterward?

Dear fellow car enthusiasts, I've been experiencing an issue with my 2008 Yaris where it occasionally stalls while idling at a red light. After restarting, it might stall again at the next red light. This happens two or three times, but then it runs fine afterwards. There are no error codes on the dashboard, and when I took it to the repair shop, the diagnostics showed everything was normal. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

When will it be available on the market? I really need a car.

Is the Scirocco really that problematic? Do the engines need frequent repairs? And do things like spark plugs often fail too? I'm considering getting a 2.0 or an R model. Can any car experts advise on which year model is more suitable?
