Is the inside of the V40 exhaust pipe black, like soot? Could it be too much carbon buildup?

All the exhaust pipes of fuel vehicles are black when you touch them.

As long as the engine oil level is normal, stop-and-go traffic in the city can lead to poor combustion, resulting in black carbon deposits in the exhaust pipe, which are difficult to remove.

No big deal. Mine is like that too, but it doesn't burn oil.

Have any fellow car enthusiasts encountered a situation where the catalytic converter has minor cracks, causing occasional exhaust emissions to go uncatalyzed and triggering the emission warning light? The mechanic mentioned this. I regularly use Carpol's catalytic converter cleaner, Liquid Gold, etc., so there shouldn't be a carbon buildup issue.

Hey everyone, I've got an issue with my 09 model. Sometimes while driving, there's a sharp "dang dang" sound coming from underneath the car. It comes and goes, and sometimes I can even hear it when idling. The repair shop mentioned it might be the exhaust pipe but then said it doesn't seem like it. They think it might be coming from the bottom of the engine. Have any of you experienced something similar?
