Does anyone know why the RPM gauge drops to 500 RPM when braking in a Ford Territory?

Hey folks, does anyone with a Multivan experience this? When starting from a cold engine, there's a huge vibration coming from the rear. The noise is really loud, but it goes away once the RPM drops. Does anyone know what's going on?

When I start the car, the idle speed is around 2000 RPM, but after a while, it drops to 1500 RPM. It takes quite a long time to go down to around 1000 RPM. Does anyone know what's going on?
