Hello fellow car enthusiasts, I have a question about engine oil. My car is a BYD Song Plus fuel version, and it's currently driven over 30,000 km. According to our maintenance manual, it recommends using 0W-20 oil. I clearly remember that after the first maintenance, the 4S staff suggested upgrading to fully synthetic oil from the original semi-synthetic. However, they didn't inform me that the upgrade would be to a 5W-30 oil, which is inconsistent with the manual. Since I didn't know better, I agreed, thinking it should be better because it costs almost twice as much. I've been using this 5W-30 oil ever since. Last month, when I went for maintenance and asked to switch back to 0W-20 oil, they advised against it, saying it might damage the engine and didn't recommend switching back. In my situation, should I switch back or not? Would switching back really damage the engine? Or am I damaging the engine by not switching back? Any advice from those who know about this would be appreciated.

5W-30 [I want to be quiet] If you're in the south, it should be fine. But if it's winter in the north and the car is parked outside, starting it in the morning might be a problem.

I already told you last time, they're just trying to upsell you. Technically, the original 020 isn't fully synthetic. But to be fair, what you're upgrading to isn't fully synthetic either. The fully synthetic ones on the market cost around 400 to 500, and at the dealership, they start at least 800!

After adding oil with a higher grade number, the vehicle may experience increased fuel consumption and louder engine noise, among other issues...

This is about the level of lubrication, similar to whether it's 92 or 95 gasoline.

Don't listen to the dealer's nonsense, switching back to 0W-20 is the best choice.

[I'd like some peace] Fellow car enthusiasts, could you help me analyze whether I should switch back during my next maintenance?
