How do you all feel about the S60 dual-clutch? Is the dual-clutch not good?

The RPM is a bit high. At 100 km/h, it's almost reaching 2000 RPM.

You can choose, but if there's no option for AT now, DCT is also okay.

As an owner of both the 2022 8AT and the 2023 dual-clutch models, here's my take: In daily use, the dual-clutch is more fuel-efficient and smoother. Unfortunately, it lacks the driving mode selection.

Dual Clutch Transmissions (DCT) are typically used in lightweight and sporty vehicles. For some entry-level or mid-range DCTs, the manufacturing cost might indeed be lower compared to traditional Automatic Transmissions (AT), especially in mass-market applications. For example, some dry-type DCTs, with fewer components and simpler structures, may have lower costs. However, more advanced wet-type DCTs like the Aurobay 7DCT EVO 380, which involve more complex technical optimizations (such as hybrid compatibility, high torque capacity, independent cooling systems, etc.), tend to be more expensive. In contrast, traditional 8-speed ATs, like the Aisin 8AT, although mature in technology and smooth in operation, are economically priced in the mid-market due to their widespread application and large-scale production. Therefore, the price differences between various versions of DCTs and ATs depend on specific designs, technological levels, and target markets. If you notice that DCTs are less expensive, it usually refers to more basic versions, particularly dry-type DCTs, while high-performance versions like the 7DCT EVO 380 are more costly.

While the dual-clutch transmission has reduced costs compared to the Aisin 8AT, its fuel economy is significantly better, and the reliability of the wet type is also pretty good.

I've had the car for two months, no issues.
