Hey fellow car owners, have you experienced a buzzing sound in your S40 even when it's not started? What's the reason for this?

The air conditioning fan is making noise, but when I turn it down, the noise stops.

I have the same issue. The mechanic said it's the hydraulic power steering pump making noise, which affects the ride comfort. Otherwise, the car is all good, and I'm quite satisfied.

There's a vacuum pump in the engine bay that's working. It's the brake vacuum pump, and it starts charging when the ACC is powered on. Many cars have this feature nowadays.

Check if the interior temperature sensor is aging. It's located behind the panel under the key, on the center console. There are three small holes. If you hear a noise from any of these positions, remove it and spray some WD-40 or apply a bit of machine oil to fix it perfectly.

How can the car make a sound when it's not even started? Could it be some other noise? Or is it windy lately, making wind noises? But that doesn't seem likely either. Try listening closely.

If the vehicle hasn't started, there usually shouldn't be any other sounds inside the car. The noise you're mentioning might be caused by the wind outside.
