Hey car enthusiasts, does your S40 make a really loud noise when starting the engine cold?

When just started, the RPM drops from 1600 to around 800 within a minute.

European and American cars are generally like this. When starting, the engine is loud and the RPM is high. After a while, when the engine is lubricated and warmed up, the sound decreases.

This phenomenon is normal. When starting a cold car, it uses a multi-injection fast idle mode to quickly get the catalytic converter to reach its working temperature. Typically, after idling for about a minute, the RPM will drop from around two thousand to below one thousand. However, the temperature gauge will take a few kilometers of driving to reach normal.

It's usually big too.

When the vehicle first starts, due to the current low temperature, the engine oil lubrication isn't in place. The idle speed is higher, so the sound is indeed relatively louder, which is normal.
