Today, I asked a friend if setting the 4WD selector to 2WD on the Outlander Sport makes the fuel consumption the same as the 2WD version. Switching to two-wheel drive mode might slightly increase fuel consumption since there's an extra driveshaft. Even without using four-wheel drive, the vehicle is still heavy.

It consumes more fuel than the two-wheel drive because the car is less than 100 kilograms heavier.
