My 10-year-old car makes a strange noise when I accelerate hard or when going uphill. The sound is like "pop, pop, pop." Does anyone know what the issue might be?

It might also be the tensioner pulley making noise.

It's the sound of knocking, could it be burning oil? Try using 98 octane fuel and clean the piston carbon deposits. Personally tested and it solved the problem.
