I'm considering buying a used diesel Grand Cherokee with a budget of around 150,000. My budget is limited, and as a working-class individual, I'm considering diesel for its fuel efficiency. I'm currently driving a 2.0T Mondeo, and the fuel consumption for commuting is 11 liters per 100 km. My concern is that some people say diesel engines are unstable and have high maintenance costs later on. My driving scenario is mainly commuting to work, with a daily round trip of 20 km. I’m also thinking about long-distance travel with my family during holidays. I’d love to hear from actual owners about their experiences and what I should pay attention to when making a choice. Thank you very much.

I've got a diesel car, registered at the end of 2016. It's been regularly maintained and has never had any issues. If the price is right, it's a good buy!

If you maintain a diesel engine well, it's not as bad as people say when driving normally. The fuel consumption is low; I average about 9 liters. If you dare to step on the gas, the 6-cylinder diesel engine with over 500 Nm torque is no joke! The main thing is that it saves fuel and it's cheaper.

I think gasoline cars are more reliable. Diesel cars do save on fuel, but the maintenance costs are higher. [I want to be alone]

Choosing petrol for the Grand Cherokee as a family car. The responses from the folks upstairs are really nice [thumbs up].

I switched from a Mondeo to a 3.6 Grand Cherokee, and the overall fuel consumption is 12, which is 2 more than when I drove the Mondeo. The fuel consumption is within the normal range. I recommend the 3.6, as it's one of Ward's 10 Best Engines, and there's no problem with the power. The main issue is that there aren't many specialized Jeep repair shops in many places, and even fewer can fix diesel. You should consider this when buying a used one.

As an owner of a diesel Jeep for 8 years with 200,000 kilometers on it, I can sum it up in one sentence: It's a good car. However, if you're mostly commuting to work, I wouldn't recommend switching to a used diesel Jeep.

I'm also thinking of switching to a diesel Grand Cherokee because I drive a big truck for the company, so I get diesel for free. I just fill up my own car too, saving on fuel costs. 😁
