My GA6 used to automatically unlock when the key was near the door and lock when the key moved away. Now it's not working. Any suggestions?

Sometimes you have to use the mechanical key to lock and unlock the car, and the keyless start doesn't work. I disassembled the Peugeot 301 key and moved the chip to a new case, with the metal key separate. Now, the remote can unlock the door, but the metal key won't start the car. Could it be the key issue that's causing the car not to start?
