I have a 2011 Smart W451, and there's a buzzing noise after starting the engine. Here's what's happening: when I start the engine, everything is normal for the first 2 seconds, but after that, a low-frequency buzzing sound begins. The noise seems to come from the rear of the engine, near the inside of the passenger side. There are no fault codes, and everything else like acceleration and speed is smooth with no issues. I recently changed the fuel pump and haven't finished a full tank yet. The noise inside the car seems to be coming from below the passenger seat but slightly forward. I've changed the engine mounts, and the alternator belt looks fine. Has anyone experienced the same issue? Any help would be appreciated.

How did you solve it? Recently, my 2009 model 451 also makes a loud humming noise while driving. After it happened a few times, I accidentally discovered that pressing the radio power button on the center console solves it temporarily, but then the humming noise comes back after a while. Pressing the center console button again fixes it for now, but I haven't completely solved the problem. I'm not sure if it's the loudspeaker, the CD player, or something else, but it doesn't affect driving.

Try removing the engine compartment cover and listen again. I once had a situation where the cover was touching something inside the compartment, causing a strange noise.

Isn't the buzzing sound generally just the fuel pump?
