Has anyone reviewed the 22-23 model BRZ with the 6AT? I've always been a manual player, but since Subaru dares to release an AT version of the BRZ, it means there's a market for it. So how is this 6AT really? How does it compare to the ZF and Aisin 8AT or Mazda's 6AT?

If you're not going to dive deep into it, you might as well just buy an MX-5.

Is the BRZ more fun to drive with a manual transmission?

I drove the new AT 86, and it doesn't have much power. The paddle shifters have a delay, and with one press of the gas, it shifts up to 5th gear and won't come down. [I want to be alone]

I think if you drive a manual for a long time, you might regret it. You won't regret buying an automatic. For an average driver's skills, a manual isn't faster than an automatic. This generation's automatic is only 10,000 yuan more expensive, while the previous generation was 30,000 yuan more expensive. The cost-effectiveness of the automatic really stands out. For daily driving, using paddle shifters isn't completely without fun.

Same model as Jetta 6AT.

The gear shifting is smooth, and it usually consumes about 10 liters of fuel in the city. The S mode even has downshift rev-matching, which feels pretty good—similar to the BMW 8AT. This Aisin 6AT is basically like the Lexus 8AT but with two gears removed, directly adapted. It's alright.

The technology for automatic transmissions is quite mature now. It's a great option for those who can't drive manual cars. 😄

It seems like it's the standard Aisin 6AT. The Aisin 6AT seems to have 3 levels, but I'm not sure if this ZD8 is the second or third level. There's always been very little information about this car's transmission, and basically, no one mentions it. I have the 2022 MT model myself, and I'm planning to switch to the 2025 AT model next year.

It depends on what you want the car for. If you're into drifting and hitting the track, a manual is definitely more fun. But if you need a daily driver with some flair, wouldn't a used 718 or Jaguar F-Type be better than a BRZ?
