Hello everyone! My brother's about to order a car. He's interested in the LTD with full-time 4WD for driving on highways in wet weather but also likes the Offroad version with rear locker + KDSS. So, I have a few questions:
1) Can the LTD have a rear axle locker installed? How about the ARB air locker, is it a non-destructive modification, and how's the quality?
2) In rainy or snowy weather with the Offroad version, what happens if you drive fast in two-wheel drive? Isn't it unsafe due to slipping? If you switch to H4, does it have a center differential, and what's the maximum speed you can go (80 km/h)?
3) If we end up buying the LTD, can we modify it with the TRD front bumper? The TRD front really looks good.
Thanks, everyone!

If you're not going off-road, the LTD is fine. But since the LTD has the off-road package, you might want to consider modifying to a TRD front look. The TRD is great for off-roading. If you live in a snowy northern area (or in rainy weather), changing to snow tires or adding snow chains will help with traction, but the LTD's performance is definitely more stable. For the rear lock, you could first discuss with a reliable modification shop and its owner. Ultimately, it depends on your personal preferences and driving scenarios. Congratulations on becoming a proud owner of a 4Runner! [thumbs up][thumbs up][thumbs up]

How many kilometers does the LTD drive shaft need greasing?

In the city, KDSS doesn't really matter. I chose the LTD for the full-time 4WD and Torsen differential.

For off-roading, go for the off-road version. In the city, the LTD version is fine. In snowy and cold areas, make sure to switch to snow tires. At speeds under 100 km/h, you can engage high 4 (for the off-road version). The LTD version isn't really suitable for intense off-roading as the bumper can easily get damaged. I'm in Canada, where it gets down to minus 40 degrees, and with snow tires, there's no issue using high-speed H4. [666]
